Burnet, Marble Falls girls basketball dominates all-district lists

The Burnet and Marble Falls high school girls basketball teams finished in the top two of District 24-4A play thanks to the players’ consistent performances throughout the campaign. And that was obvious by how coaches voted for the all-district lists.

Burnet junior center Zaria Solis is the district’s Most Valuable Player after averaging double digits in points and rebounds.

Marble Falls senior guard Tea Rodriguez is the Offensive Most Valuable Player, and teammate Lexie Edwards, a junior center, is the district’s Sixth Man winner. Rodriguez averaged 9.1 points, 2.9 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 3.9 steals per game. Edwards averaged 11.4 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per contest.

First team all-district members for Burnet include senior guard Grace Gates, who averaged 7 points and 3 rebounds, and sophomore guards Sydney Lough, who averaged 6 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists, and Sierra Schaefer, who averaged 6 points and 4 rebounds.

The Marble Falls first-team members are senior guard Alyssa Berkman, who averaged 11.4 points, 2.4 rebounds and 3 steals, senior forward Emma Bindseil, who averaged 5 points, and senior guard Emma Koziel, who average 4 points, 3 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game.

The Burnet County second-team members are Burnet senior Christina Graves and Marble Falls senior forward Lilly Nesrsta.

Honorable mention honors went to Marble Falls senior guard Mackenzie Farmer and Burnet senior Abigail Aguillon and senior guard Danielle Oakley.

Burnet academic all-district honors went to senior Kendall Bible, junior forward MaeSyn Gay, sophomore guard Khloe Shannon, Aguillon, Gates, Graves, Lough, Oakley, Schaefer and Solis.

Marble Falls academic all-district honors include sophomore guard Kenadie Cotton, sophomore forward Bethany Fry, senior forward Avie Nail, sophomore forward Kylie Roberts, Berkman, Bindseil, Edwards, Farmer, Koziel, Nesrsta and Rodriguez.
